About Me
Hello, my name is Richard Bullivant, and I'll admit that I am a self confessed book lover! |
 |
For a few years now I have been buying and selling books, both online and offline, and I have to say that I just love the whole experience!
The two areas that I tend to specialise in are:
-
Modern First editions, from 1940's to the current day - especially early Children's literature.
-
Modern non-fiction books, from the early 1970's to the current day.
Most days I am out and about tracking down new buying sources for my book inventory (now well in excess of 4000 books!). These may be online sources - the well known and less well known book websites. Or, offline; in the real world, I might be attending book sales, warehouse book remainder sales, library sales, bar boots sales...the list goes on.
I would not describe myself as a book academic. I saw a list the other day of 'the top 20 books that you should read before you die', and thought to myself, that I better live a very long life, as I have barely started on the list. I suppose it is all a matter of time - The best time for me is in the bath, and that list will take a lot of baths!
I am also taking the first tentative steps in writing my first book! Maybe I can share some of my trials and tribulations with you on my road to becoming a budding author - finding a good idea for a book, 'writers block', joining a writer's circle, finding a publisher...it seems like a long road, but I will get there in the end.
It occured to me that it would be a good idea to pass on my experiences, tips, great sources for buying, selling and caring for books and any general advice that I think would help book-lovers, through the medium of this website and my weekly e-letter.
